By Kenny Beauvais, Lay Leader
Last Sunday was a remarkable day in the life of our church, one in which more of the “foundation” and guiding direction for the future were planned.
Over 50 members met for 2½ hours to prayerfully consider, discuss and discern the next steps of our Visioning Process.
Rev. Peter Gaughan used all of his first grade teaching skills to corral eight different discussion tables to coalesce into a common statement that will become BUMC’s Mission Statement for the future. And again, please remember that all this work has come from you, the congregation, with all the wonderful statements from our survey in March of this year.
Using our value statement words ofWELCOMING, WORSHIPPING, SERVING & COMMUNITY, the groups brought forth ideas that developed the next step in this Visioning Process for the future.
Especially encouraging was the demographic makeup of our group on Sunday – we had all ages along with both new and “seasoned” members, all contributing words, thoughts and phrases to help develop a basis for communicating who we are as a church.
Please mark your calendars for Sunday, June 12, when we will meet again to begin work on specific plans and ideas for both short and long term goals for our church.
