BACK TO SCHOOL SUNDAY

Broadmoor family,

As the month of August rapidly progresses and we move toward a new school year, we invite you to join us Sunday, August 22nd, in all three services as we celebrate all those who are headed back to school.

We will spend some time in the service recognizing students, school teachers, administrators, principals, etc. before providing a special blessing over them.

We also encourage you to join us at 5 pm under the carport for a time of prayer for all of our schools, as well as individual blessing, as desired.

We know that our back to school plans may look a little different, that we may be experiencing big changes. But we have joy as we remember that our God is with us through it all. In a world of so many changes, God is our constant. We love you and look forward to celebrating with you!

CELEBRATION FOR ANNE CATHCART

May 23, 2021

Anne has been enjoying retirement for almost a year. Now that restrictions have been lifted, we are now able to gather together and celebrate her 40 years of love and devotion to the Broadmoor Buddies program.

Please join us on May 23rd where we will honor Anne during the 11 AM Traditional service and have a time of celebration immediately following.

A table will be set up in Fellowship Hall where we can leave notes of encouragement, words of thanks or memories of how Anne and the Buddies program have touched our lives.

We look forward to celebrating Anne with you.

METHODIST CHILDREN’S HOME MOTHER’S DAY OFFERING

Methodist Children’s Home of Ruston is one of the three children’s homes of Louisiana United Methodist Children and Family Services.

They offer services encompassing structured residential care to equine-assisted psychotherapy, from intensive alternative educational services to a base camp for the home and community services we will offer throughout the region.

Ruston serves as the home base for all the operations throughout the state.

Checks should be made payable to: Methodist Children’s Home of Ruston

You can drop your check into the offering baskets, drop them off at the office or mail to BUMC.

ROCKY RAILWAY VBS

All aboard for a mountain of fun during our Rocky Railway VBS. Our conductors are hard at work planning this faith-filled adventure where kids learn trusting Jesus will pull them through all of life's ups and downs.

This adventure is July 12th-15th from 10:00-12:00.

Early registration is open now and is $5 thru June 15th.

CONFIRMATION SUNDAY!

Confirmation Sunday is April 25th!

Please join us as we celebrate this year’s Confirmation Class as they are Confirmed during the 11 AM Traditional and River Services!

The Day School is very excited to host our 10th Annual St. Jude Trike-A-Thon on Friday, March 26.

Over the past eight years our Day School has raised over $26,000! This year we have set a goal of $3,000. Of course, we would LOVE to surpass that goal.

The Trike-A-Thon program teaches children safety lessons while riding their trikes or bicycles. We will begin Trike-a-Thon week during our library time learning the lessons. For this event, we will use our roller racers and ride the course in shifts with the 3’s in one parking lot and the 4’s in the other. We are inviting parents to watch. Even though we are going to be outside, we are asking parents to wear masks and practice social distancing.

It will be an educational and fun time for the kids, but also a time to raise money to send to St. Jude. A participant sponsor form is attached. This year we are also participating in the on-line option. To set up your fundraising page, visit stjude.org/trike. (Click on Find Your School and enter Broadmoor United Methodist Church Day School and go from there!) I would encourage those of you who have a Facebook page to post on there. It’s an easy way for you to get the information out to friends and family AND an easy way for them to pay on-line! OF COURSE, anyone may also make donations with check or cash! Please look over the envelope and return the parent/guardian permission slip.

This is going to be such a fun event for a great cause!

The Day School has scheduled an early registration period beginning Tuesday, January 19th.

This allows church members and children currently enrolled in the Day School, Buddies program and the Early Learning Center the first opportunity to register for the upcoming school year.

We are NOT currently giving tours during our school hours but will be hosting a virtual open house later this month.

Buddies in house registration begins Tuesday, January 19th.

1st Grade Family Devotionals Sunday | JAN 3rd

During our 11 AM services January 3rd, we will honor our 1st graders and their families with a family devotional.

This devotional is a great way for families to spend time learning, growing and connecting in God’s Word throughout the year. It offers weekly devotionals and family challenges that are fun and will fit into the busiest of schedules. Our 1st grade friends won’t want to miss this milestone.

Santa Shoppe at Arthur Circle

Kids Hope and BUMC are once again participating with a fundraiser called Santa Shoppe at Arthur Circle. 

• The children come in at different times and buy small new or donated items that are then wrapped, to give to their family members.  

• The highest marked item will be $2.  

• The kids get to enjoy shopping and experience the gift of giving. 

• The money raised goes back to the school to buy items for the students.

The Angel Trees will be up the week of November 4th.  The deadline for all gifts to BUMC is Tuesday, December 3rd.
