BACK TO SCHOOL SUNDAY

Broadmoor family,

As the month of August rapidly progresses and we move toward a new school year, we invite you to join us Sunday, August 22nd, in all three services as we celebrate all those who are headed back to school.

We will spend some time in the service recognizing students, school teachers, administrators, principals, etc. before providing a special blessing over them.

We also encourage you to join us at 5 pm under the carport for a time of prayer for all of our schools, as well as individual blessing, as desired.

We know that our back to school plans may look a little different, that we may be experiencing big changes. But we have joy as we remember that our God is with us through it all. In a world of so many changes, God is our constant. We love you and look forward to celebrating with you!

Grand Gathering 2021

This year’s Grand Gathering, on Sunday, August 29, 2021 will take place outside to ensure social distance!

We will have a color war, foam slip and slide, tie dying options, and more!

There will be a parent meeting at 4:30 pm, followed by the event
from 5 - 7:00 PM.

UMY TURKEY BOWL

TURKEY BOWL 2019

This November 17th at 5 PM we will be continuing our long-standing tradition of the Turkey bowl!

What’s the Turkey Bowl, you might ask?

The Turkey bowl is a community outreach and scavenger hunt where youth and volunteers will be given routes to pick up supplies of food for the Northwest Food Bank. All types of cans, boxes, turkeys, etc. are accepted.

ANGEL TREE FOR LOUISIANA METHODIST CHILDREN'S HOME

Christmas Angel Tree at Broadmoor to collect toys and Christmas gifts for The Louisiana United Methodist Children and Family Services in Ruston, La.  www.lmch.org  .

The Angel Trees will be up the week of November 4th.  The deadline for all gifts to BUMC is Tuesday, December 3rd.

Fall Retreat: UNPLUGGED

Get ready, because for this year’s Fall Retreat, we are taking the show on the Road UNPLUGGED. Unplugged, that is, from the handheld devices we often have at our fingertips. We’ll explore God’s Creation, and talk about how God may be speaking to us through the quiet times. Cost is $60, and is due the 20th. Registration forms will be available starting Sunday, October 6th.

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS

At this fun, family and pet-friendly event, the public and people of all faiths are invited to bring their pets and have them blessed by the church’s pastors. Pets are our constant companions and they provide us with unconditional love.

This traditional celebration honors St. Francis of Assisi who was declared Patron Saint of Ecology because of his special devotion to the animal kingdom. Attendees are invited to bring all pets, including dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, reptiles, and fish. Please note, pets must be friendly and either on-leash or in carriers at all times.

You are also encouraged to dress your pet up in a costume! Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
